This original vintage Smyrnafix tapestry is a phenomenal example of 1970s West German textile art. Smyrnafix is a vintage West German brand well-known for its 1970s and 1980s handicrafts. They are especially famous for their retro latch-hook wool wall tapestries, embroidery kits, and festive cotton textiles. Because the company is no longer active, original Smyrnafix items are now popular collector's pieces.

Style & Color

This high pile tapestry features a striking, "pixelated" geometric pattern in what I love to call a "Brutalist-meets-Folklore" style. The beautiful dark chocolate brown background is so rich and deep, it completely makes the vivid, retro color-blocks of pumpkin orange, sun yellow, bright red, and violet jump right off the yarn!
