Vintage Eva Nemeth Fringed Tapestry | Mustard Yellow Mid-Century Wall Art

When I discovered this tapestry at a local estate sale, it was still proudly hanging in the main bedroom, right above the bed. The family told me it was given to the original owners as a beautiful, heartfelt wedding gift 💝 all the way back in 1974. What a lovely memory! To know it has spent half a century witnessing love and life makes it so very special.

This lovely handwoven tapestry is an authentic mid-century wall hanging that instantly brings sunshine and warmth into your home with its rich, retro mustard yellow and terracotta earth tones.

Handwoven beautifully in the 1960s-1970s, the design shows a wonderfully stylized geometric man and woman, inspired by northern folklore. The artist behind this fantastic motif is none other than ⭢ Éva Németh, the celebrated Hungarian textile designers of the era. The beautifully braided macrame fringes at the bottom give it such a fun, relaxed bohemian feel. Whether you place it in a bright hallway, an eclectic living room, or even as romantic bedroom art like its original owners did, it is a true piece of mid-century textile history!

Design: 1960s/1970s modernist decor, with stylized pan-folklore elements

Material: Woven wool weft over strong cotton warp. It is flatwoven and perfectly reversible!
