Small Vintage Mirror Wall Cabinet – Refurbished Shaker Style Medicine Cabinet

This small wall cabinet makes me think of old country houses – the little mirror above the washbasin, where the whole family checked their hair before leaving home. When I found this sweet piece, I couldn't wait to give it a fresh start, and now it's ready to bring that cozy, old-time feeling into a new home.

This vintage wall cabinet has simple, shaker style lines: a wooden frame door with the original mirror in the middle, original hinges and a cute white hard plastic knob. I gave it a careful refurbishment – it was thoroughly cleaned, re-sanded and refinished with a premium furniture wax for a smooth, satin finish. Some traces of the old white paint stayed in the wood grain, which gives it a soft, white-washed look. The mirror has a soft vintage patina, and inside there is a shelf that you can remove if you need more space.

It's perfect as a medicine cabinet or for small toiletries in a rustic or farmhouse bathroom, for spices and little jars in a country kitchen, or for keys and small things in the entryway. It looks lovely in farmhouse, French cottage, country or shaker style interiors.

Complete the cozy country look with a handwoven wool tapestry by Hungarian textile artist Eva Nemeth – her earthy colors and natural textures are a perfect match for rustic wood:
