This handknotted Eva Nemeth wool tapestry is in excellent vintage condition. There is no major damage visible. Dry cleaned, free of bad odour.

This beautiful scandinavian style wall hanging tapestry was designed by hungarian textile artist Éva Németh (1930-2019). Beyond her well known motives of horses, birds, peacocks, flowers and trees this wall hanging lines up another, very much loved theme: hungarian mytological pictures like the mounted warriors with arrows, the hungarian Holy Crown, nomadic tribes with horses etc.

This tapestry is a beautiful illustration of probably the most famous hungarian origin myth 'The Legend of the Wondrous Stag':

The hunting twin sons of the Babylonian Nimrod, Hunor and Magor, follow a wonderful deer and find the new homeland. The area was rich in water, grass, wood and game, so they decided to stay. From then on, the descendants of Hunor became the Huns, and those of Magor became the Hungarians ("Magyar").
