Vintage Turkish Yastik Rugs x2 – Small Hand-Knotted Wool Mats with Antique Patina

Two small vintage Turkish rugs, hand-knotted with soft wool pile and a lovely antique patina. Warm red, navy and chocolate brown tribal patterns that bring real handmade character to any corner of your home.

These rugs are small Anatolian village rugs, the size the Turkish weavers call “yastik”. Traditionally, women wove these pieces at home to use as cushion fronts or small floor mats. Each one was made by hand, knot by knot, so it has its own personality.

The red one: a brick red field with a big golden stepped medallion and little star flowers, deep navy corners, and an ivory and blue border with small floral motifs.
The brown one: a dark chocolate brown field with a red and grey diamond medallion, mustard yellow hooks, ivory accents and a touch of soft blue.

They look different but go together beautifully as a pair. You can put them side by side, or use them in two different rooms.

Perfectly imperfect

Both rugs have a soft, worn-in antique patina and the charming signs of handwork: slightly uneven edges, small changes in color (called “abrash”) and a little irregular shape. This is not a mistake. It’s what makes a real handmade rug so special, and why it looks so much warmer than a machine-made one.

Where to use them

• In front of the bed, as a cozy bedside rug
• At the entryway or front door
• In the bathroom or kitchen, by the sink
• On a bench, chair or stool, as a seat cover
• On the wall, as a small textile artwork
• Layered on top of a bigger rug, for a collected, boho look

Condition
